UNFPA Kenya

Despite steady economic growth, rich cultural and biological diversity and a strong tourist industry, almost half of Kenya’s people live in poverty. Addressing the country’s rapid population growth – close to 3 per cent per year -- is seen as key to sustainable development, as outlined in the national planning strategy known as Kenya Vision 2030. UNFPA’s contribution includes strengthening reproductive health services, improving supply chains for contraceptives, advocacy against gender-based violence, and facilitating integration of population dynamics into policy formulation.
